Moderna hires James Mock as CFO. He will replace David Meline as of September 6 of this year. Previously held the role of CFO at PerkinElmer.
The American pharmaceutical company Moderna already has a replacement for David Meline, the current financial director, who had to return to his post after announcing his retirement. James Mock will take over from September 6 . Before he joined the company, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the multinational PerkinElmer. Meline will remain as a consultant to help with the transition.

His experience in scaling global businesses will ensure that we continue to be well positioned for the future “, said the CEO of the American pharmaceutical company Stéphane Bancel. In addition, he has recalled that Moderna has a messenger RNA platform that includes four phase three trials that will be carried out this year.
It is not the first time that James Mock has played this role. Since May 2018, he has held this role at PerkinElmer , a life sciences, diagnostics and analytical solutions company. He had leadership responsibility for the strategy and operations of all financial functions of the entity. In addition, prior to joining the company, he spent nearly 20 years in financial oversight roles within the General Electric Company , both in the United States and abroad.
Three months ago, Moderna announced to the media the departure of Jorge Gómez, who held this same position, because Dentsply Sirona , an entity in which he previously worked as executive vice president and financial director, had opened an internal investigation due “to certain matters, including the economic magnitudes, as reported by the pharmaceutical entity.
In total he had lasted less than 48 hours in the position. After his brief tenure, David Meline, who had already held the position previously, returned to the company even though he had already left it to retire.
