The ‘Salamaq 2022’ fair will open its doors from September 2 to 7 with “similar figures” to those of the pre-pandemic in terms of exhibitors, occupation and livestock, with a “full return to normality” in terms of covid measures and with the forecast of “full capacity” regarding visitor attendance.
This was stated by the president of the Salamanca Provincial Council, Javier Iglesias, who presented this Friday the new edition of ‘Salamaq’, which includes the Agricultural Sector Fair and the International Exhibition of Pure Livestock.
In his words, it is the “most important event in the sector, not only in Salamanca , not only in Castilla y León, but in Spain as a whole” and which is held every year as an “essential showcase” for professionals and as an “opportunity extraordinary way of bringing the countryside closer to the most urban society”.
In the new edition, it will have 461 unique exhibitors, from 34 provinces of 15 autonomous communities and three regions of Portugal, with an occupation of more than 41,500 square meters, an area that represents “practically the entire” of the fairgrounds.
After an inauguration, which, according to Iglesias, will be carried out by the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, with the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Luis Planas, the activity will begin at a fair to which the Diputación has allocated a budget of 972,000 euros.
Within the agricultural sector, there will be 194 exhibitors in some 22,500 square meters, including 60 machinery that will be displayed in 20,100 square meters, and 59 in the Central Pavilion.
As for the livestock exhibition, it will add more than 1,430 heads of five species and 39 livestock breeds from southern Europe, specimens that will arrive from the hand of 247 farmers, mainly from the beef sector, with 1,060 heads.
Among other meetings within ‘Salamaq’ are planned professional conferences, the celebration of the Regional Agrarian Council, the national Iberian-Agricultural Congress or the exhibitions of the students of the School of Bullfighting of Salamanca.
