Women Continue To Set Records In The Classroom

With the start of the new academic year, IESE Business School’s commitment to supporting future women leaders is bearing fruit. IESE’s Master in Management (MiM) and MBA classes are more diverse than ever this year, and the school welcomes a historic number of female students into these programs .

At MiM, which officially started the course on August 29 from the IESE campus in Madrid, women represent 43% of the promotion, compared to 37% last year . A figure that represents the highest percentage and number of women that has been seen in the program since it opened in 2019.

In the MBA, which started last week at the IESE campus in Barcelona, ​​37% of the class are women, compared to 31% of the last graduating class.

In addition to the gender diversity of these programs – which offer a transformative experience for students – the MiM and MBA classes are also internationally diverse. The MiM class of 2023 is made up of 114 students from 33 different nationalities. For its part, the 2024 MBA group has 353 students of 55 nationalities.

Supporting women leaders
This record number of women in the new MiM and MBA classes reflects IESE’s ongoing efforts to increase the number of women in all of its programs. This drive is part of a broader approach by the school to help break down the barriers that still prevent women from taking on more leadership positions and, in turn, help create more humane and equitable businesses.

Professor Marc Badia, IESE Associate Dean for the MBA and MiM programs, believes that these two internationally renowned master’s degrees have become two very important channels for forging the business talent of the future. Thus, “increasing the number of exceptional women who graduate from MiM and MBA programs at the world’s leading business schools such as IESE can contribute to increasing the number of women who hold positions as directors, owners and leaders in the most important companies and institutions . of our society,” he says.

In this sense, IESE presents a wide variety of initiatives to support women leaders through different programs and activities. Among others, scholarships for women, management training, clubs, conferences, networking activities, flexible formats or top-level academic research stand out.
