Telefónica Joins Forces With Sherpa.ai To Facilitate Medical Diagnoses

News

Telefónica Tech and Sherpa.ai have announced a technological alliance that will allow the generation of use cases in advanced artificial intelligence under the most advanced data protection standards. Specifically, the information used for the predictions will never leave the servers of the companies that own the data.

Among other advantages, Telefónica’s agreement with the Spanish benchmark in Artificial Intelligence will make it possible to improve predictive algorithms to “facilitate the early diagnosis of diseases or to detect possible fraudulent behavior by combining information from different organizations,” according to both companies.

In this way, the financial and health sectors are emerging as the main clients of a technological alliance where the sharing of knowledge is key to improving its operations. The fact that the learning models developed by the Basque company do not require data sharing has been a decisive element in materializing the agreement.

Through the federated learning technique, Telefónica hopes to improve the algorithms and Artificial Intelligence learning models of public and private companies, with absolute safeguards for privacy. For its part, Telefónica Tech will offer its clients the Sherpa.ai SaaS (software as a service) platform to develop new use cases and offer professional services with high added value in the field of analytics and Artificial Intelligence, according to the teleco through a statement.

The strategic alliance will provide the two companies with the ability to innovate in the training of their Artificial Intelligence models and to explore new scenarios of collaboration between organizations . According to the same sources, the aforementioned platform “will generate significant improvements in the accuracy of predictions and a greater impact of algorithms on business processes and results, as well as a reduction in energy consumption in training and a decrease in the footprint of carbon”.

Gonzalo Martín-Villa, CEO of IoT and Big Data at Telefónica Tech, considers that “the alliance with Sherpa.ai is a great opportunity to bring the potential and benefits of federated learning technology closer to our clients and to continue expanding our portfolio with advanced artificial intelligence use cases that will help companies optimize their business.”

For his part, Xabi Uribe-Etxebarria, founder and CEO of Sherpa.ai , explains: “We are very pleased with this agreement with Telefónica Tech because it will allow us, on the one hand, to expand the perimeter in the commercialization of our federated learning platform and , thanks to it, develop use cases to significantly improve financial, operational and sustainability results”.
