The Centre has rejected a viral claim that the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) account can be linked with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare said that the claim is “false and baseless”.
The statement said, “It has been noticed that a message is circulating in the social media that CGHS card holders can link their CGHS account with Ayushman Bharat Health Account. This is false and baseless.”
The Ministry further clarified that the CGHS is only applicable to Central government employees and pensioners and their dependent family members and is not applicable to the general public.
The Ayushman Bharat Health Account is a savings account that is opened in the name of the beneficiary and is used to save money for medical expenses. It is offered by the National Health Agency (NHA) and is available to all citizens of India.
