Joe Biden has consistently and repeatedly condemned Russia for its illegal actions in Ukraine, including its illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014. He has accused Vladimir Putin of committing war crimes in Ukraine, and specifically condemned the “disproportionate violence and disregard for international law that Putin and his proxies have used to destabilize the region.” He has called on the United Nations to investigate and put an end to Russia’s human rights abuses in Ukraine. In addition, Biden has supported providing lethal aid to Ukraine in its fight against Russian-backed separatists, and has voiced his support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
