Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday for a two-day official visit to India. During his visit, Kishida is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. He will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee.
Kishida is expected to discuss with the Indian leadership issues related to strengthening bilateral ties, including economic, security and people-to-people exchanges. He is also likely to discuss the Japan-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement, which has been under negotiation for the past several years.
This is the first official visit by Kishida to India as Japan’s Prime Minister. In 2014, he had visited India as the Japanese Foreign Minister.
