Reports from Uganda have stated that an Indian national was shot and killed by an off-duty constable in Kampala on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Anand Raj, a 35-year-old Indian engineer who was working on a project in Uganda.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 5.30 pm on Sunday when the off-duty constable opened fire at the victim after an altercation between them. The constable reportedly fired multiple rounds of bullets at the victim, killing him instantly.
The constable has been detained by the police and an investigation is ongoing. The Indian High Commission in Kampala has been informed of the incident and is providing necessary assistance to the victim’s family. The High Commission has also requested the Ugandan authorities to take necessary action in the matter.
