On Monday, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar held a virtual meeting with Sweden Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries on various issues, including economic and climate issues.

The two leaders discussed the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures adopted by both India and Sweden to combat it. They also discussed the growing trade and investment ties between the two countries and emphasised the need for closer cooperation in areas such as digitalisation, clean energy, innovation and sustainability.

Both leaders also discussed regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. They exchanged views on India’s initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region, India’s Act East Policy, the situation in Afghanistan and the need to strengthen the global non-proliferation regime. They also reaffirmed the importance of a rules-based international order and a strengthened multilateral system.

At the end of the virtual summit, Dr. S Jaishankar and Ulf Kristersson agreed to explore further avenues for cooperation between India and Sweden.
