SpaceX has hired Kathy Lueders, a former NASA official, to lead the Starship program. Lueders has previously served as the program manager for the Commercial Crew Program at NASA, overseeing the development of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon and Boeing’s Starliner spacecrafts.

In her new role at SpaceX, she will lead the development of Starship, the company’s next-generation reusable launch system. The goal of the program is to build a fully-reusable launch system capable of transporting humans and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Lueders is the first female executive to be named to lead a major SpaceX program.
