The government names Ravneet Kaur to lead the CCI

The Government of India has appointed Ravneet Kaur as the Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI). She has been appointed to this post for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ravneet Kaur is a former Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Law and Justice. She has also served as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance. She has also held various positions in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

The CCI is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, 2002. It is responsible for protecting the interests of consumers and ensuring that the market remains competitive. The CCI is empowered to investigate anti-competitive activities, prevent unfair trade practices and impose penalties on entities found to be in violation of the Competition Act.
