The inaugural ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council will be on Tuesday

The first India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) ministerial meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. The meeting will be chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and European Commission Vice-President, Maroš Šefčovič.

The meeting is expected to discuss the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement, the EU-India Innovation Initiative, digital connectivity, and collaborations in new and emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). The TTC is expected to provide a platform for India and the EU to exchange views on areas of common interest and to foster collaboration in the fields of trade and technology.

The India-EU Trade and Technology Council is the first institutionalized dialogue of its kind between India and the EU, and it is expected to provide a platform for both sides to enhance economic and technological collaboration. The meeting is expected to help India and the EU to work together to address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to ensure that both sides benefit from the opportunities arising from digitalization and technological developments.

The India-EU Trade and Technology Council is a vital part of the India-EU Strategic Partnership, and it is expected to play a key role in deepening the relationship between India and the EU.
