Union Minister Murugan, dressed in “Veshti,” will head the Indian delegation to Cannes in 2023

Union Minister Murugan is set to lead the Indian delegation at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. He is expected to be attired in a traditional Tamil ‘Veshti’ (dhoti). This will be the first time a Union Minister will attend the prestigious festival, which is held annually in the south of France.

Murugan is expected to use the opportunity to showcase the work of Indian filmmakers and producers to the global audience. During his visit, he will meet with other international delegates and discuss the potential for Indian films being showcased at Cannes.

The Minister is also likely to hold discussions with French film industry professionals about the possibility of Indian films being screened at the festival. He is also expected to encourage collaborations between Indian and French filmmakers.

The Minister’s visit to Cannes will also likely be used to promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative, and to highlight the growing case for Indian cinema as a global presence. The Indian delegation at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival is expected to be quite large, with prominent film personalities and industry professionals also expected to attend.
