Melbourne bus accident: truck driver granted bail after injuring numerous schoolchildren

The driver of a truck which crashed into a school bus in Melbourne, Australia, has been released on bail after several school children were injured.

The driver, aged in his 50s, was arrested following the crash which happened in the city’s northern suburbs on Wednesday morning.

Police said that the truck was travelling in the wrong direction when it collided head-on with the bus, which was carrying 30 primary school students.

The driver has been released on bail and is due to appear in court on July 11th.

Victoria Police said the crash is being investigated and further charges may be laid.

The children on board the bus suffered a range of injuries, including broken bones, cuts and bumps. Three of the students remain in hospital, but all are expected to make a full recovery.
