Hardeep Singh Puri, the Indian Civil Aviation Minister, has announced plans to achieve nationwide use of 1% sustainable aviation fuel by 2025.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation is working to encourage the use of ‘green’ aviation fuel to reduce carbon emissions and is actively engaged with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Airlines, Airports, Regulatory Bodies, Financial Institutions, and Technology Providers for this mission-critical aim.
It is expected that more than 25 airports would be utilizing sustainable aviation fuel by 2025 and fuel quality and safety protocols will be duly incorporated at all airports. As of now, nine airports have already signed an MOU with suppliers for the same.
