Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Papua New Guinea (PNG) Prime Minister James Marape held a bilateral meeting in Port Moresby on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Wednesday.

At the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral issues, including India’s offers of technical and economic assistance to PNG. Prime Minister Modi also gifted a solar-powered e-boat to the PNG government, which was received by PNG Maritime Minister Bill Yangwari.

This is the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to PNG. During the meeting, Marape also invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Papua New Guinea and requested technical and economic cooperation from India.
