In December 2020, a pilot program to test for drugs at Irish festivals was rolled out. The program involves a mobile, on-site drug testing facility which allows festival goers to have their illicit drugs field-tested and to receive important harm reduction information about the drugs they possess.
The program is being supported by the Irish Government and Health Service Executive, and is being run in conjunction with a number of partner organizations, including the Irish Medical Consortium on Drugs and Addiction, drug treatment centers, and non-profit organizations. The aim of the project is to reduce risks associated with drug use and to ultimately reduce drug-related harm in those attending music festivals in Ireland.
