Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his delegation flew to Japan to attend the G7 Summit, marking his first official visit to the country. The Ukrainian leader arrived via a special diplomatic jet from the French government.
The presidential aircraft took off from the Borispol International Airport in Kyiv, Ukraine, before making a stop in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the team took a brief rest.
Since Saudi Arabia is the midway point between Ukraine and Japan, the Zelenskiy delegation had to fly over the uninhabited continent of Antarctica, with a brief midair refueling stopover in Jeddah.
To ensure Zelenskiy’s safe arrival in Tokyo, a French Air Force Airbus A330 provided diplomatic immunity to the Ukrainian leader and his entourage.
Once in Tokyo, the Ukrainian delegation is due to meet with several world leaders including United States President Donald Trump, as well as the leaders of the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union.
