Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese have jointly renamed a Sydney suburb as “Little India” during a mega-event in Sydney, Australia. The event was organized by the Indian-Australian Community Services (IACS) to honor the contribution of around 600,000-strong Indian-Australian community to the country’s development.

During his address at the event, Prime Minister Modi said that the occasion is a “proud moment” for the Indian community. He also mentioned that the renaming of the area as ‘Little India’ will be a tribute to the generations of Indians who have contributed immensely to the progress of Australia. On the other hand, Albanese noted that the new name will be a token of gratitude from the Australian government to India and Indian people for their efforts.
