Indian Railways has handed over 20 broad-gauge locomotives to Bangladesh. The locomotives, which have been produced by Diesel-Loco Modernisation Works (DMW) in Patiala, are part of India’s commitment of 60 locomotives to Bangladesh.

The locomotives have been manufactured at a cost of Rs. 180 crore under a deal signed between India and Bangladesh in 2017. The locomotives will help the Bangladesh Railway to facilitate the carriage and transport of goods in and out of the country.

The locomotives will also help to increase operational efficiency and reduce the travel time taken by goods trains. The handing over of the locomotives marks a milestone in India-Bangladesh partnership. It also reflects India’s commitment to supply materials and equipment for developing the infrastructure in Bangladesh.
