The Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined on Thursday, tracking losses in global markets amid the ongoing trade dispute between the United States and China. The Sensex fell over 200 points and the Nifty closed below 18,300 while Adani Enterprises fell 6%, metal, and financial service stocks contributed the most losses. The Sensex dropped 219 points to close at 61,126 while the Nifty 50 declined 52 points to end at 18,271.
Adani Enterprises, Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, and Bajaj Finserv were among the major losers. On the other hand, Axis Bank, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Tata Motors were among the gainers. Market breadth was negative with 1196 stocks rising and 1639 stocks declining on the NSE.
