A man has been arrested after four people were reportedly killed in a gun and knife attack in Japan.
Police in Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, said the man was detained overnight in connection with the attack, which took place shortly before midnight Thursday (local time) in the suburb of Ebina.
The suspect was identified as Kazuhiro Kusakabe, a 33-year-old male resident of Ebina. Police said he has admitted to the attack, which killed four people, and two other people were injured in the attack.
Kusakabe is accused of entering an apartment where the victims, all family members, were sleeping, and then using a gun and a knife to kill them.
It is believed Kusakabe had a dispute with the family and carried out the attack in revenge, but the exact motive remains unclear.
Police said Kusakabe was apprehended early Friday near his home in Ebina, and taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
